This has been a busy and productive month. We have been learning about cause and effect and we finished up a unit on observing different environments. We read a story about the life of the Saguaro cactus and the kids created some pretty amazing desert landscapes. In math, we have been learning about area and how to measure areas of different shapes. We will be taking a test on this unit on Wednesday, January 25th. This week we will be reading The Man Who Invented Basketball and we will discuss the importance of people and their talents. After we take our unit 6 test in math, we will start unit 7, which will cover graphing. I think the kids will like this upcoming math unit. Looking ahead and Reminders: On Wednesday, January 25th the school will be having another Dads and Donuts at 7:30am. This will also be a time for dads to sign up for the school's WatchDog program. We don't have school on February 10th. On February 14th we will have our Valentine's Day party. If you want your student to bring Valentines, make sure you bring one for every student in the class. There are 22 kids in the class. Parent/Teacher Conferences are on the 15th and 16th of February. I would love 100% attendance! You can sign up for a time beginning January 30th. You will sign up for a time via Online Scheduler. The book fair will coincide with conferences. Students do not have school on February 17th. Remember to bundle your student up! We still have outdoor recess in the winter. Also, let me know if you do not want your student to stay inside on red air days. Please send in your Box Tops! Enjoy the pictures below of our classroom shenanigans! Last week was also a sad week as we said goodbye to Makenzie and the rest of the fantastic Goeller family! The class made cause and effect posters to help learn from each other. Desert Sunsets: |
Ms. O I was born and raised in Utah. After I graduated from the University of Utah, I lived in California, Texas, Pennsylvania and Hawaii. I am happy to be back in Utah. I enjoy paddle boarding, cooking, hiking, skiing and running. I have two adorable kids who keep me pretty busy. I love Mexican food and coffee. This is my third year at Sunrise and I am so happy to be a part of the Sunrise community. Third grade is my favorite grade! Archives
