Two subjects that I LOVE to teach: science and social studies. I wish I had more time to teach these subjects each day. I was so happy to see how excited the kids were when I told them we would be starting our first science unit on living and non-living. The kids have enjoyed working in their interactive notebooks and we also made terrariums. This was the first time I have tried this activity and I am so glad that we did them in my class this year. It was a fun activity and the terrariums turned out great! The kids loved building their terrariums. The kids were also given an introduction to our Native American social studies unit and our unit on cultures, by going on our field trip to This is the Place Heritage Park. The kids had fun exploring the park. I am excited to dive deeper into this unit. I love seeing how excited this group of kids get when we are learning new things! Below are a couple of slideshows of the kids: It has been a busy couple of weeks of school. The first few weeks are always a little hectic as the students learn the rules and routines of their new classroom. I think that these kiddos are doing a great job so far and I am proud of their progress. I am especially excited to see how well they are doing in math. The online practice buddies can take some getting used to, but the kids are getting the hang of them! I would love a parent volunteer to help the kids during their math independent time. Please let me know if you are interested! This past week was SOAR week. During this time, we reflect and learn about our school rules and behavior expectations. S-staying safe inside and out O-on time and on task A-accept responsibility R-respect self, others, property The last day of SOAR week the students were asked to wear school colors, spirit wear or dress up like their favorite super hero. I dressed up like a third grade teacher :) We also had our first parent come in and read to our class. Thanks Kim!! We have a lot of fun things coming up the rest of this month. I am excited!! Here are a couple of pictures of the kids: |
Ms. O I was born and raised in Utah. After I graduated from the University of Utah, I lived in California, Texas, Pennsylvania and Hawaii. I am happy to be back in Utah. I enjoy paddle boarding, cooking, hiking, skiing and running. I have two adorable kids who keep me pretty busy. I love Mexican food and coffee. This is my third year at Sunrise and I am so happy to be a part of the Sunrise community. Third grade is my favorite grade! Archives
