Happy Thursday! I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day! We had a great time in our class yesterday. It was pretty exciting because Google came to Sunrise and some of the classes were able to try out a new application that will launch this summer. The kids had a fun time exploring and using the application. This is something I would definitely use in my classroom on a regular basis. It was a wonderful opportunity!! We also had our Valentine's Day party yesterday. The students made some very creative boxes. I loved seeing how excited they were to share their Valentines with their classmates. I was also grateful for all of the Valentines that the students gave to me!! The party was fun and the kids had a lot of fun. Thank you so much to the amazing moms who came in and put the party together. I am so grateful for the wonderful support the kids and I get from all of you! Our class wouldn't be strong without all of you. I am lucky to have a wonderful class community. Don't forget that it is a four-day weekend!! I hope you all enjoy the extra days off. I have posted some pictures of our time with Google and Valentine's Day. Enjoy! Wow!! I know it has been awhile. January was a busy month. It was hard to keep up :) At the beginning of January, the students worked on their writing for "Seeing Stars." So the first thing we did was activate background knowledge by looking at the sky and making observations. I really loved the pictures that they drew. Their informative essays for this activity showed a lot of growth. We will go over them at Parent/Teacher Conferences at the end of the month. For our next story, "Around One Cactus," the students created fantastic desert sunsets. These are posted on my bulletin board and will be there for a few weeks. I hope you check them out!! They kids did a wonderful job. The field trip to Capitol Theatre was a success. I was sad that I missed out on all of the fun. The kids said they had a great time and enjoyed the dancing. I loved hearing about their favorite parts. I unfortunately do not have any pictures from the field trip :( I am looking forward to everything we have planned in February!! I promise I won't wait over a month to post again :) Porter was our Character Ed recipient for January: Sky observations, Mystery Reader, and desert sunsets: |
Ms. O I was born and raised in Utah. After I graduated from the University of Utah, I lived in California, Texas, Pennsylvania and Hawaii. I am happy to be back in Utah. I enjoy paddle boarding, cooking, hiking, skiing and running. I have two adorable kids who keep me pretty busy. I love Mexican food and coffee. This is my third year at Sunrise and I am so happy to be a part of the Sunrise community. Third grade is my favorite grade! Archives
