I can't believe that the first week of school is over and we are now into our second full week. The first three days of school our class had the opportunity to get to know each other and learn our classroom rules and procedures. We started Envision math. The students began learning how to multiply using grouping and repeated addition. We also started working in our Reading Street books. The story we will be focusing on this week is When Charlie McButton Lost Power. Today, I sent the students home with their spelling and vocabulary words. The students will need to study these words because Friday I will be giving them their test. Students will receive their spelling and vocabulary words every Monday. So, make sure to look for them.
Every night I ask that students read for 20 minutes. The third graders are also being challenged to read 30 books this year. Third graders do not have lunch until 12:20. Therefore, if you child needs a snack you can pack one for them. They will have time to eat their snack during morning recess. They may also have a water bottle that they can keep at their desks. We have a field trip on September 15th. The whole third grade will be going to This Is the Place Heritage Park. Please turn in permission slips no later than Wednesday (8/31). I would also encourage all parents to join the PTA. Please send your PTA forms and money in as soon as possible. The PTA is a vital part of our school community. I look forward to this year and getting to know all of you!! Ms. O |
Ms. O I was born and raised in Utah. After I graduated from the University of Utah, I lived in California, Texas, Pennsylvania and Hawaii. I am happy to be back in Utah. I enjoy paddle boarding, cooking, hiking, skiing and running. I have two adorable kids who keep me pretty busy. I love Mexican food and coffee. This is my third year at Sunrise and I am so happy to be a part of the Sunrise community. Third grade is my favorite grade! Archives
