In the past couple of weeks we have been busy learning about all of nature's wonders. Our Big Idea for the current Reading Street unit is "One of a Kind." We have been discussing what makes people and things in nature unique and special. I am excited about moving forward with this unit. Next week we will not have a spelling or reading test. Therefore the students will not be brining home spelling words. In math, we have worked on graphing and rounding numbers. We will continue with this for the next week. The kids enjoyed collecting data about everyone's favorite kind of ice cream. I then had them graph their results. In writing we are still focusing on informative writing. The students picked a topic from our latest story "Hottest, Coldest, Highest, Deepest" to guide their essay. This week and next week they will continue to type their essays into our google classroom. If you would like to know how to access google classroom at home please let me know. Next week they will work on an art project to go along with their writing. I will have these posted on my bulletin board in time for parent/teacher conferences. Looking ahead: Next week is White Ribbon Week No school on 2/10/17 We have Parent/Teacher conferences on 2/15-2/16 Make sure to sign up via Online Scheduler 2/14 Valentine's Day party (if your student is bringing valentines, please make sure they bring one for every student in the class. We have 22 students in our class). No school 2/17 and 2/20 Enjoy your weekend! Ms. O A few pictures of the work we have been doing in our class: |
Ms. O I was born and raised in Utah. After I graduated from the University of Utah, I lived in California, Texas, Pennsylvania and Hawaii. I am happy to be back in Utah. I enjoy paddle boarding, cooking, hiking, skiing and running. I have two adorable kids who keep me pretty busy. I love Mexican food and coffee. This is my third year at Sunrise and I am so happy to be a part of the Sunrise community. Third grade is my favorite grade! Archives
