October was an incredibly busy month! We had a lot of really fun and interesting programming! I think that the kids enjoyed these special activities. We had a wonderful art lesson about the artist Henri Matisse. The students were able to create their own collages in a similar style as the famous artist. I thought that their projects turned out really well! I was so excited that we were able to have the Drum Bus come to Sunrise. I have thought that this would be a great experience for my students and I was glad that the other third grade classes also wanted to participate. The students were taught some basic drumming techniques and learned a little about other cultures and how they use drumming. The lesson mainly focused on Eastern African drumming. The kids sang a song called "We Are Awesome!" That was their favorite. The Pumpkin book reports always turn out so wonderful and this year was no exception. Their projects were really cute and the first graders enjoyed listening to their stories and seeing all of the different pumpkins! Halloween at school is one of my favorite days of the year! I love seeing the kids dressed in their costumes and there is always excitement in the air. It makes me feel like a kid again! Our party was a lot of fun and I appreciate the wonderful moms who came in to help!! Finally on Thursday, we had some educators from Thanksgiving Point come into our classroom to teach the kids about living, non-living, and once living items. They also discussed the life cycles of plants and animals. The kids were able to examine (up close) bugs and tulip bulbs. I can't believe how fast the fall is flying by!! Ms. O I hope you enjoy all of these great pictures!! Henri Matisse: Pumpkin Projects: Drum Bus: Halloween: Thanksgiving Point Activity |
Ms. O I was born and raised in Utah. After I graduated from the University of Utah, I lived in California, Texas, Pennsylvania and Hawaii. I am happy to be back in Utah. I enjoy paddle boarding, cooking, hiking, skiing and running. I have two adorable kids who keep me pretty busy. I love Mexican food and coffee. This is my third year at Sunrise and I am so happy to be a part of the Sunrise community. Third grade is my favorite grade! Archives
